Game 1: Utah Beats E Illinois 83-73

Utah proceeds to the 4th annual Leberwurst Classic title game. Utah downed E Illinois today 83-73 thanks to a solid effort by Rolnick. The game lived up to its hype, with both teams having their moments but neither side able to dominate for any extended length of time. Said Rolnick after the game, "This one could have easily gone either way. We're just glad that we came out with the win." Coach JensMJ Ellmies echoed the sentiments, saying "E Illinois came out strong and ready to play, and we knew from the start that it would be a battle out there. Probably if we played them 10 times, both sides would get five wins. But we got the win today, and that's what counts."

E Illinois players were disappointed after the game, and coach Matthew Stevens had his hands full keeping their spirits up. "They know they played their hearts out today, and that it wasn't enough. That's a tough feeling. Especially for Bosco, who had one heck of a game but couldn't carry the whole team on his shoulders."

Utah was led by Rolnick (26 points, 1 assists, 2 steals), Jackson (5 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, a block), Francis (7 points, a steal, a block). E Illinois was led by Bosco (19 points, 0 assists, a steal, a block), Larkin (17 points, 3 blocks), Linares (14 points, a block).

Utah jumps to 1-0. They are currently #96 in the national rankings. With this defeat, E Illinois stands at 0-1. They are now ranked #244 in the writers poll.

Game 2: Connecticut Wins Big

Connecticut defeated N Illinois to make it to the 4th annual Leberwurst Classic title game with a solid 85-72 win over N Illinois. "I don't think we left any doubt over who was the better team today," said Connecticut coach Perez Suarez. "We pretty much did whatever we wanted out there, and I don't think they ever figured out what to do about Davis's play."

It will be a tough task for N Illinois coach Jigga Man to get his team up for their next game. "We really came in believing that we had a shot to win this one, but obviously that didn't happen. They outplayed us from the start, and there weren't too many happy faces in the locker room afterwards."

Connecticut was led by Davis (16 points, 3 assists, a steal), Metcalf (20 points, 0 assists, a block), Kemp (17 points, 0 assists). N Illinois was led by Colbeck (27 points, 0 assists, a steal), Garcia (10 points, 0 assists), Worsham (5 points, 5 boards, 1 assists, a steal).

Connecticut is now 1-0 with today's win. They are currently #52 in the writers poll. N Illinois stands at 0-1 with today's loss. They are now #204 in the poll.

On the second gameday we saw the Championship Game and we got our fourth Champion.

Championship Game: Utah 78, Connecticut 71

Utah took home the 4th annual Leberwurst Classic trophy, after coming out on top in an exciting game against Connecticut. "I'm sure it was a dream game for the fans, with the result in the balance down to the end," said Utah coach JensMJ Ellmies. "But these sorts of games give me gray hair."

JensMJ Ellmies and his counterpart, Connecticut coach Perez Suarez, brought out the best in their teams. "Not a lot of mistakes from either side," said Perez Suarez. "That's what I like to see. Of course, I'd like to see us win as well but only one team can do that. Utah just played better, and we have to tip our hats to them."

Utah was led by Francis (10 points, 3 steals), Rolnick (19 points, 1 assists), Pitoc (12 points). Connecticut was led by Sisco (6 points, 2 steals, a block), Davis (15 points, a steal), Metcalf (11 points, a steal).

With today's win, Utah stands at 2-0. They are ranked #74 in the poll. Connecticut drops to 1-1. They are #73 in the poll.

Consolidation Game: No Contest as N Illinois Stomps E Illinois

Razo had a great game today to lead N Illinois to a 77-52 rout of E Illinois. "Razo played his heart out today, and the rest of the team followed," said Jigga Man of his star's performance. "Admittedly this wasn't the toughest competition we've ever faced, but it's great to see a game where everything works as planned."

Faces were a bit longer in the E Illinois locker room. "Everybody knew that E Illinois are a great team and that it would take a flawless game on our part and some luck to beat them. But to lose by this kind of margin is disheartening. We were just completely ineffective out there. I'll have to look over the films and try to turn this into a learning experience. Certainly I can pick up some tips from Jigga Man's coaching."

N Illinois was led by Razo (17 points, 13 boards, 0 assists, a block), Garcia (21 points, 0 assists, a steal), Cook (13 points, a block). E Illinois was led by Linares (12 points, 0 assists, a block), Lopez (7 points, 0 assists, a block), Bosco (7 points, 1 assists, a steal).

N Illinois jumps to 1-1 with the victory. They are now rated #164 in the poll. With the loss, E Illinois stands at 0-2. They are now #259 in the country.
