First gameday is played and we got two teams in the final and two in the consolidation game.
Game 1: Utah Tops UC Santa Barb
Utah advances to the 3rd annual Leberwurst Classic final, as UC Santa Barb came up short today in a
72-66 game. "That was a really tough game to lose," said UC Santa Barb coach Ian Armstrong after the
game. "We came in thinking we could beat these guys. And we really played them well. But a few too many
mistakes on our part kept us from getting the 'W'." One player who definitely can't be too downcast is
Daya, whose outstanding game was one of the bright points for UC Santa Barb and caused some other teams
to take notice.
Utah was led by Rolnick (22 points, a block), Pitoc (13 points, 3 steals), Etheridge (10 points, a steal,
a block). UC Santa Barb was led by Daya (13 points, 1 assists, 2 steals), Villate (11 points, 5 boards,
0 assists), Bailey (12 points).
With this victory, Utah jumps to 1-0. They are now ranked #129 in the national rankings. UC Santa Barb
falls to 0-1 with this defeat. They are #318 in the national rankings.

Game 2: NC Wilmington Wins
NC Wilmington beat West Virginia and will play in the 3rd annual Leberwurst Classic
championship game. Slumping West Virginia lost yet another game last night by falling 77-74.
West Virginia coach Todd E Jones could not be located after the game, and there was an
unconfirmed report that he could be done with West Virginia. Rumors are that another loss to
hated NC Wilmington could be the end of the line for the coach. Fans and players are beginning
to get fed up, especially with losses in big games like today's. We'll have more on this story
as it develops.
NC Wilmington was led by Battan (17 points, 2 steals, a block), Darsses (21 points), Porter
(7 points, 7 boards, 0 assists, a steal). West Virginia was led by Rodriguez (16 points,
2 assists, a steal), Palacios (18 points, 6 boards, 1 assists), Wells (13 points, 1 assists, a block).
NC Wilmington stands at 1-0. They are #130 in the country. With this defeat, West Virginia is
now 0-1. They are currently #134 in the poll.

On the second gameday we saw the Championship Game and we got our third Champion.
Championship Game: Utah Takes Easy Win over NC Wilmington
Utah netted the 3rd annual Leberwurst Classic championship, after beating NC Wilmington 87-74. NC Wilmington players and fans were expecting the game to be a bit closer, but everything went well for Utah today. "It was really frustrating," said NC Wilmington star Darsses. "I thought we were going to be ready for this game, but we just couldn't do anything against them." Coach Bill Howard seemed perplexed early on, but made a few adjustments late in the game that were too little, too late in this game but may help his side out next time these two teams meet.
Utah was led by Jackson (8 points, 12 boards, 2 assists, a steal), Rolnick (21 points, a steal), Pitoc (14 points, 0 assists, a steal, a block). NC Wilmington was led by Darsses (24 points, 1 assists), Nallo (9 points, a block), Battan (9 points, a steal).
With todays victory, Utah jumps to 2-0. They are rated #123 in the country. After this defeat, NC Wilmington stands at 1-1. They are currently #183 in the poll.

Consolidation Game: West Virginia Over UC Santa Barb
A solid outing by Palacios led West Virginia to a 85-76 win over UC Santa Barb. "Take away Palacios, and we'd have won this thing," said UC Santa Barb coach Ian Armstrong. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put West Virginia over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more mortal performance by him."
West Virginia coach Todd E Jones was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit around and watch Palacios do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another day maybe Palacios will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest of the players to step up as well."
West Virginia was led by Palacios (18 points, a steal), Rodriguez (20 points), Coronado (5 points, 5 boards, 0 assists, 2 blocks). UC Santa Barb was led by Daya (17 points, a steal), Moore (15 points, a block), Villate (6 points, 10 boards, 1 assists, a block).
With the win, West Virginia jumps to 1-1. They are now rated #153 in the writers poll. UC Santa Barb falls to 0-2 with the defeat. They are currently #314 in the writers poll.
