First gameday is played and we got two teams in the final and two in the consolidation game.
Game 1: No Contest as James Madison Stomps Rice
James Madison will appear in the 1st Leberwurst Classic title game, after a 83-54 trouncing
of Rice that should put an end to the verbal sparring match. Perhaps in an effort to bolster
his overmatched team's confidence, Rice coach Bob has been all over the paper and evening news
predicting an easy victory. Just before gametime he said, "Records don't mean anything coming
into a game like this. We all know who's the better team, and we're going to show it."
These words turned out to be true, but not in the sense he had meant them.
James Madison coach JensMJ Ellmies refused to trade jabs before the game, instead leaving the
job to his superior team. Afterwards, he thought Bob's strategy curious. "No offense, but if
you've got the crummy team and go around saying stuff like that, you just look like an idiot.
Did he think we would actually believe that garbage? Maybe he should have invested his time
coming up with a game plan rather than a press conference speech."
James Madison was led by Kerth (8 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, 2 blocks), Keaveney (10 points,
10 boards, 1 assists), Rosales (17 points). Rice was led by DelCalzo (11 points, 7 boards, 1 assists),
Will (10 points), Farrington (8 points, a steal).
With the victory, James Madison improves to 1-0. They are now rated #83 in the country. Rice is
now 0-1 with today's defeat. They are now #321 in the writers poll.

Game 2: Ball St Gets Solid 90-76 Win
Ball St continues on to the 1st Leberwurst Classic championship game, with an impressive
90-76 win over Samford. "I think a lot of people have overlooked us," said Coach Bob after
the game. "Maybe with this game and a few more quality wins, the rest of the league will
start to take notice." Samford certainly took notice today, as losing coach Bob said "We
really expected to put on a better game than this. But Ball St were just too good."
Ball St was led by Edwards (28 points, 1 assists), Housley (13 points, 7 boards, 2 assists),
Wilfong (15 points, 2 steals). Samford was led by Vasquez (13 points, 3 steals), Roberts
(9 points, a steal), Keefe (6 points, 5 boards, 1 assists).
Ball St is now 1-0. They are rated #73 in the national rankings. Samford stands at 0-1.
They are #318 in the poll.

On the second gameday we saw the Championship Game and we got our first Champion.
Championship Game: James Madison Pulls Out Win Over Ball St 74-66
James Madison won the 1st Leberwurst Classic trophy with a 74-66 win over Ball St keyed
by Kerth's solid outing. "Take away Kerth, and we'd have won this thing," said Ball St
coach Bob. "It was a very close game most of the way, and he was the one that put James
Madison over the top. I thought we had the right game plan and executed well. What's sad
is that I don't know what we'd do differently next time, except for hoping for a more
mortal performance by him."
James Madison coach JensMJ Ellmies was happy for the win, but concerned about the team's
play. "I didn't think this was a very good team win. Our players seemed tempted to sit
around and watch Kerth do his stuff. That was enough for the win today, but on another
day maybe Kerth will be injured or our opponents can counter him, and we'll need the rest
of the players to step up as well."
James Madison was led by Kerth (19 points, 18 boards, 1 assists, a block), Watt (14 points,
0 assists, 3 blocks), Keaveney (8 points, 9 boards, 2 assists). Ball St was led by Housley
(17 points, 11 boards, 1 assists, a steal), Wang (6 points, 6 assists, a steal, a block),
Riewer (10 points, 0 assists, a block).
With today's victory, James Madison jumps to 2-0. They are currently ranked #72 in the
writers poll. Ball St stands at 1-1 with this defeat. They are now ranked #151 in the poll.

Consolidation Game: Rice and Samford Down to the Wire
Samford came up short today against Rice, falling 94-85. "That was a really tough game to
lose," said Samford coach Bob after the game. "We came in thinking we could beat these guys.
And we really played them well. But a few too many mistakes on our part kept us from getting
the 'W'." One player who definitely can't be too downcast is Hill, whose outstanding game was
one of the bright points for Samford and caused some other teams to take notice.
Rice was led by DelCalzo (21 points, 11 boards, 3 assists, a steal), Kaswalder (21 points,
1 assists), Logue (11 points, 2 steals). Samford was led by Hill (18 points, 5 boards,
1 assists), Bush (10 points, 2 steals), Voyles (6 points, a steal).
Rice improves to 1-1 with the victory. They are rated #232 in the poll. With this defeat,
Samford drops to 0-2. They are currently #313 in the country.
